Mike Ferner, peace and democracy advocate, to speak

Mike Ferner, national director of Veterans for Peace, will speak at the November 15th meeting of People for Peace & Justice Sandusky County. He will address how to strengthen US democracy so that work for human rights and social justice can flourish.

Ferner, a Vietnam War veteran, has a long history of peace and pro-democracy work. He has been a union organizer, member of Toledo City Council, and communications director for the Program on Corporations, Law and Democracy, the group that researched and popularized the concept of “corporate personhood” and the harm it has caused. He currently coordinates the environmental group, Lake Erie Advocates.

The meeting will take place at First UCC Church, Fremont. It will begin with a 6:30 pm potluck, with the program following at 7:15 pm. The public is invited.
